The GREAT GRAVEL ADVENTURE Ride is a unique mixed terrain adventure ride in East Galway. A fun and adventurous combination of road surfaces on gravel roads, mucky farm tracks, bogs, grass fields, forestry, boreens, and manor estates!
The sister event to the Galway Classic, Irelands only 'classics' style road race, The GREAT GRAVEL ADVENTURE ride gives off-road riders a fun challenging biking adventure across many different gritty surfaces.
The GREAT GRAVEL ADVENTURE Ride is Ireland's most unique off-road adventure ride. Organised by Galway Bay Cycling Club in the true spirit of adventure cycling, this event is a self-guided adventure ride designed to provide the off-road cycling community in Ireland a fun, testing, adventure!

ROUTE HIGHLIGHTS
RYEHILL DEMESNE
The belltower rings as you leave the start line on a dusty gravel track as it winds its way out the rear of the propery.
KILLACLOGHER BOG
It's time to greeth your teeth - 7kms of bog grass and gravel roads with some hike-a-bike. Lots of twists and turns!
ABBEY BOG
You'll enter Abbey bog from the south on a 1.5km gravel road after which you ride to the north side across bog grass and mucky trails onto another, rougher, gravel road for 1km.
MENLOUGH BOG
A 1km gravel road leads you into the bog where you'll have to dismount and cross a bog ditch before riding on bog grass and onto another gravel bog road to exit on the other side. A stunningly beautiful area
STONE PARK
Gravel tracks turn to grass fields as you make your way through this farm section.
MOYNE PARK
1km of gravel road leads to a grass field, after which you join a short forestry section which leads into the rear of Moyne Park manor estate the courtyard and onto more gravel roads.
SKEHANA BOG
A short but difficult 2km bog section on gravel and mucky tracks with lots of off-camber surfaces and potholes.
COLMANSTOWN BOG
Second time through the manor estate but in reverse this time. Admire the lake view in front of the manor as you pass!
